Signing in and passwords
Everything about getting into the CMS, and what to do when you can't.
Signing in
Go to https://cms.abileneaor.com/admin and enter your email address and password.
That address is not your public website address with /admin on the end — the CMS is a separate system on its own address. Bookmark it the first time you sign in.
Resetting your password
- On the sign-in screen, click Forgot password.
- Enter the email address your account uses.
- Click the link in the email you receive.
- Choose a new password.
The email arrives within a minute or two. Check your spam folder before assuming it hasn't arrived — it is an automated message from a system you may never have had mail from before, which is exactly what spam filters catch.
The link is single-use and expires. If you request more than one reset, use the newest email; the older links stop working.
If the reset email never arrives
- Check spam and junk.
- Check the address. It must be the exact address on your CMS account, not another one you use.
- Do you have an account at all? If nobody has created one for you there is nothing to reset — ask your CMS administrator to add you.
- Still nothing? Contact support and say which address you tried.
Nobody can see or set your password for you, including an administrator. They can confirm your account exists and which address it uses, which is usually enough to solve it.
Changing your password when you already know it
Sign in, open your own user record, and set a new one. You don't need the reset flow for that.
Choosing a password
This account can publish to and delete from a live public website, so treat it accordingly.
- Use a long, unique password, ideally from a password manager.
- Don't reuse a password from another system.
- Don't share your login. If someone else needs access they need their own account. Shared logins make it impossible to tell who changed what, and mean nothing can be revoked cleanly when someone leaves.
When someone leaves
Their account must be deleted, not just left unused, or their login keeps working. That is an administrator job and should happen the day they leave. See Users and access.
