Running the data syncs

Two screens let you start a data import by hand, both under Tangilla Data in the left-hand menu.

Normally you don't need either — the syncs run on a schedule. These are for when something is missing and you don't want to wait.

Tangilla Imports

Imports agents, offices, committees, committee members and events from Tangilla.

  1. Click Tangilla Imports.
  2. Choose what to import.
  3. Start it, and wait for it to finish.

Nothing is deleted by a sync. It adds what's new and updates what's changed. Running it twice is harmless — the second run simply finds less to do.

Use it when someone has been added in Tangilla and you need them on the site now rather than at the next scheduled run.

Listing Sync

Imports property listings from your MLS, NTREIS Matrix — a separate system from Tangilla, which is where the imports above come from.

Listing imports are much larger than Tangilla ones and take correspondingly longer. Start it and let it finish rather than starting it again because nothing seems to be happening.

Before you run one

Check the logs first. If the last scheduled run failed, running it again by hand will usually fail the same way, and you'll have learned nothing. See Listing Sync Logs.

Don't run several at once. Let one finish before starting another.

After it runs

Check what you expected to appear has appeared. If it hasn't:

  • The record is probably not in the source system yet — check Tangilla or the MLS.
  • If it is in the source and still missing after a successful run, that's worth reporting.

Who can run a sync

Running a sync is an Admin and Editor action. Authors and Viewers cannot.
