Forms

Forms is under Site Features in the left-hand menu. It's where you build the forms that appear on your website — contact forms, sign-up forms, enquiry forms.

What people submit arrives in Form Submissions, a separate screen.

Building a form

  1. Click Forms in the left-hand menu.
  2. Click Create New.
  3. Give the form a Title — this is for you, to find it later.
  4. Add your fields.
  5. Set what happens after someone submits.
  6. Click Save.

Adding fields

Add one field per thing you're asking for. For each, you set:

  • Label — what the person sees
  • Name — the internal reference, used in submissions
  • Required — whether they must fill it in

Ask for as little as you can. Every extra field loses you some replies. If you don't have a concrete use for someone's phone number, don't ask for it.

After someone submits

A form can show a confirmation message on the page, or redirect to another page — a thank-you page, for instance.

A form can also email someone when it's submitted. Check the address is right and still belongs to someone who works there; a contact form quietly emailing a departed staff member is a common and invisible failure.

Putting a form on a page

Creating the form isn't enough — nothing shows it yet.

Open the page where you want it, add a Form block, and choose your form. See Pages and the page builder.

Changing a form

Edit and save; the change is live immediately.

Be careful renaming or removing fields on a form that's already collecting replies. Existing submissions keep the old field names, so a renamed field can make older entries harder to read.
