Property listings

Listings is under Tangilla Data + MLS in the left-hand menu. It holds the properties shown in the property search on your website.

Listings come from the MLS feed and are managed entirely by it. Nobody types a listing in by hand, and staff cannot add, change or remove one. This is the single most common thing people expect to be able to do here, and it isn't.

Why you can't edit a listing

Listings are the MLS's data, not the association's. The CMS holds a copy so the website can show it, and refreshes that copy on a schedule.

If the CMS let anyone edit a listing, the change would be wiped at the next sync and the website would disagree with the MLS in between. So the screen is deliberately view-only for everyone except an Admin.

A wrong listing must be corrected in the MLS by the listing agent. There is nothing anyone here can do to fix it faster, and that is the honest answer to give a member who asks.

What you can see

Open a listing to check what the website has:

Field What it is
MLS ID / MLS Number The listing's reference
Status Active, sold, and so on — this drives whether it shows publicly
Listing Type For sale, for rent
Address Street, suburb, city, state, postcode, plus map coordinates

Useful when a member rings to ask why their property looks wrong on the site — you can see exactly what the feed sent.

"A listing is missing from the website"

Work through these before reporting it:

  1. Is it in the MLS, and is its status live? A listing that has sold or expired is meant to drop off.
  2. Has the sync run since it was listed? Open Listing Sync Logs and check the most recent run. New listings appear at the next sync, not instantly.
  3. Is it the kind of listing this site shows? Not every listing in the MLS is published — the feed is filtered, and that filtering is deliberate.
  4. Search for it here by MLS number. If it's in this list but not on the website, that's worth reporting. If it isn't in this list, the feed hasn't sent it and the answer is in the MLS.

That last step is the one that saves time — it splits "the website is broken" from "the feed hasn't sent it", and they need completely different people to fix.

Photos

Listing photos come down with the listing and are stored separately from your Media library, so they never clutter it. If a listing's photos are wrong, they're wrong in the MLS.
