Job Openings
Job Openings is under Content in the left-hand menu. It holds the job adverts shown on your website's careers listing.
⚠️ Publishing a job opening emails your subscribers on the next digest run. There is no tick box for this and no way to un-send it.
Adding a job
- Click Job Openings in the left-hand menu.
- Click Create New.
- Fill in the fields below.
- Click Save.
| Field | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Title | The job title |
| Published At | The date the advert goes out. Required |
| Active | Tick while the job is open. Untick to take it down |
| Employment Type | Full time, part time, and so on |
| Experience Years | Years of experience expected |
| Salary | The advertised figure |
| Description | The advert itself — responsibilities, requirements, how to apply |
| Contact | The email and phone for applicants |
There is no draft. Saving publishes the job immediately.
Taking a job down
Untick Active and save. The advert comes off the website.
This is better than deleting it. The record stays, so you can see what was advertised and when, and you can put it back by re-ticking the box if the role reopens.
Delete only when you are certain you'll never want it again — that is permanent.
The subscriber email
Your subscribers receive a digest, and job openings go into it automatically, like news articles.
- Active must be ticked. A job with Active unticked is never emailed. This is the way to add a job without notifying anyone — leave it unticked, then tick it when you're ready.
- Each job is emailed once. Editing it afterwards does not send it again.
- A future Published At date holds the email back until that date passes. Useful for lining a job up with an announcement.
Writing the advert
Say how to apply, explicitly. The single most common reason a good candidate doesn't apply is that they weren't sure how.
Put the salary in if you can. Adverts without one get noticeably fewer applications.
Who can do what
Admins, Editors and Authors can create and edit job openings. Only Admins and Editors can delete one.
