Event Types

Event Types is under Site Features in the left-hand menu. It holds the kinds of event your association runs — training, networking, board meetings, and so on.

Every event must have a type. It controls how events are grouped and filtered on the website, and which events appear under each tab on the homepage.

Adding a type

  1. Click Event Types in the left-hand menu.
  2. Click Create New.
  3. Type the Name.
  4. Click Save.

One field.

There is no draft. Saving is immediate.

Why it matters more than it looks

Event Types is a required field on every event. If the type you need doesn't exist, you cannot finish creating the event — you have to come here, add it, and go back.

Worth setting up the types you know you'll need before you start adding events.

They also drive the Event Tabs on the homepage. Each tab on the homepage events section is filtered to chosen event types, so a new type won't appear on the homepage until someone adds it to a tab. See Editing the homepage.

Renaming

Edit the name and save. Events assigned to it stay assigned.

Deleting

Deleting a type that events are using leaves those events without one. Since the field is required, that's an inconsistent state and those events may not display correctly.

Reassign the events first, then delete the type.
