Editing the homepage
The homepage is not in Pages. Looking for it there is the most common wrong turn — it isn't listed, and there is nothing to find.
The homepage has its own screen called Home, under Collections in the left-hand menu.
How the homepage is built
The homepage is made of blocks — sections stacked one above the other, in the order you put them. This is the same idea as building a page, so if you have built a page you already know how this works.
Two differences from an ordinary page:
- There is only ever one homepage. You edit it; you never create a new one.
- The homepage can only use five kinds of block. An ordinary page has around twenty. The five below are the only ones you will be offered here, and that is deliberate — the homepage has a fixed shape.
When you open Home, the blocks are collapsed so you see the running order at a glance. Click any one to open it.
The five blocks
Hero
The banner at the very top of the homepage.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Logo | The image shown in the banner |
| Subtitle | The line of text in the banner. Required |
| Description | A short paragraph under it. Two lines maximum |
Quick Links
A row of cards for the things people come to the site to do.
Add up to 8 cards. Each card needs all three of:
- Image
- Title
- Description
All three are required — a card will not save with any of them empty.
Events List
Pulls in your events automatically. You do not type events here; you set the rules and it fills itself from the Events screen.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Display Type | Grid View, Calendar View, or Both View |
| Show Past Events | Include events that have already happened |
| Enable Search | Give visitors a search box |
| Show Pagination | Break long lists into pages |
| Limit | How many events to show. Required |
| Event Tabs | Up to 4 tabs, each filtered to chosen event types |
Community Resources
Shows cards from the Resource Cards screen, under Content in the left-hand menu.
You pick up to 8 of them here. You do not write the card content in this block — create or edit the card in Resource Cards first, then choose it here. If a card looks wrong on the homepage, fix it in Resource Cards and it updates everywhere it appears.
Property Search
The property search and listings section.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Show Search Form | Show the search box |
| Search Placeholder | The grey hint text inside the search box |
| Content Source | Automatic fills from your listings feed; Manual selection lets you pick specific listings |
| Listing Type | Any, For Sale, or For Rent |
| Sort Order | Price - High to Low, Price - Low to High, or Newest |
| Listings to Show | How many to display |
Leave Content Source on Automatic unless you have a reason to hand-pick. Automatic keeps itself current; a manual list goes stale the moment those properties sell.
Making a change
- Click Home under Collections.
- Click the block you want to change. It opens.
- Make your change.
- Click Save at the top.
Adding a block
- Scroll to the bottom of the block list.
- Click Add Block.
- Choose one of the five.
- Fill it in.
- Save.
Reordering
Drag a block by the handle on its left. The order here is the order down the homepage, top to bottom.
Click Save after dragging. Reordering is not saved on its own.
Removing a block
Click the × on the block, then Save.
The homepage cannot be completely empty — at least one block must remain. If you are replacing a section, add the new block before removing the old one.
Before you save
The homepage is the first thing every visitor sees, and there is no draft version of it — saving publishes immediately.
If you are making a large change, do it in one sitting rather than leaving it half-finished. A homepage saved mid-edit is live in that state.
